Galeri Comparative Anatomy and Paleontology, salah satu daripada komponen National Museum of Natural History, memiliki salah satu koleksi yang paling indah dan menyeluruh tulang-tulang di dunia. Prokudin - Gorsky mula mewujudkan triwarna gambar selepas belajar dengan ahli Photochemistry Jerman iaitu Profesor Adolf Miethe. Beliau telah melarikan diri dari Rusia selepas Revolusi Oktober dan negatif beliau akhirnya dibeli oleh Perpustakaan Kongres Amerika Syarikat pada tahun 1948 dan diterbitkan pada tahun 1980.
